This is the tale of the famous lighthouse of Land's End which was first built privately in 1705 (to the annoyance of the Cornish Smugglers and wreckers) and was rebuilt in 1883 by the Trinity House. The story brings in the press gang, Lord Howe's "glorious First of June", the beginnings of Wesleyan Methodism in Cornwall and all the excitements of seafaring life in dangerous times.
